I began my career in Illinois state government working for the Governor of Illinois, an independent Democrat named Dan Walker. It was really exciting and interesting. As a 25 year old, I was right in the thick of things.   I did policy analysis, wrote speeches, drafted legislation and helped fight the father of the current Mayor Daley (we lost).

But NOW I have to explain to people that my Governor didn’t go to jail for what he did during his term in office (he actually ran a squeaky clean administration).  He went to jail for what he did after he left office.

It’s been all downhill from there…
