Jeff Goldsmith on Obama Struggles!

Wicked article in Politico about Obama White House troubles (job offers to troublesome Congressional candidates, square miles of oil slicks in the Gulf).  http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0610/38067.html

Successful Presidencies go through stretches where they look incompetent (Reagan and Iran/Contra).  Unsuccessful Presidencies go through lengthy stretches where they are simply out of luck and absolutely overmatched  (Carter and gas prices/Iranian hostages). Not clear yet what we’ve got here. Obama has accomplished a lot in sixteen months, but it’s a really tough job.   A lot of what happens to Presidents is beyond their control and yet they have to maintain the illusion that they’re on top of everything. It’s sort of a waste of energy best spent dealing with the stuff they do control.

Way too early for obituaries…
